Your images never leave your device: everything happens in the browser, nothing is uploaded.
How to convert an image to JPG in 3 steps
Pick the format
JPG is already selected. For another one, tap PNG or WebP.
Choose your images
Tap Choose images and select one or many. On a computer, you can also drag the files into the box.
Download the result
Tap Download image. With several images, Download all gives you a .zip with all of them.
If you change the format afterwards, the tool converts again on its own, with the same images. The two most common searches have their own pages: WebP to JPG and PNG to JPG.
Formats in and out
| Format | In | Out | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| JPG (JPEG) | Yes | Yes | The most widely accepted by sites, apps and printers |
| PNG | Yes | Yes | Lossless and transparent; heavy for photos |
| WebP | Yes | Yes (not in Safari) | Light, but some programs and forms reject it |
| GIF | Yes | No | You get the first frame |
| HEIC | Safari only | No | The iPhone photo format |
| BMP and AVIF | Yes | No | Depends on the browser |
JPG is the safest choice to send, post or attach: it opens on any phone, computer and website. PNG is better for screenshots, logos and images with text, because letters stay sharp and transparency is kept. WebP is lighter than both, but some systems still don’t accept it.
Your image never leaves your device
Many online converters upload your file to a server, convert it there and send back a link. Here, the conversion happens in the browser itself: the image is opened, redrawn and saved in the new format in your device’s memory. It never goes through our server, and no file is kept.
That also makes it fast, with no upload and no queue. And the new file comes out without the photo’s hidden data (EXIF), such as location and phone model.
HEIC, the iPhone photo
Since 2017, iPhones save photos as HEIC, a format that takes up less space. On the iPhone itself, when you pick a photo on a website, iOS hands over a JPG copy. The trouble starts when the photo reaches a computer: Windows and many websites don’t open HEIC.
On a Mac, Safari opens HEIC and the tool converts it normally. On Windows, open the photo in the Photos app and save a copy as JPG. To make your iPhone save JPG from now on, go to Settings, Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible.
Limits
- up to 20 images at a time, up to 20 MB each;
- huge images, over 50 megapixels (or 16 megapixels on iPhone and iPad), are scaled down to fit the device’s memory. The screen tells you when that happens;
- images are processed one at a time, so your phone doesn’t freeze.
More image tools
After converting, you can compress the image to make the file lighter or resize it for Instagram, Stories or WhatsApp. To save the picture from a Pin, use the Pinterest image downloader.
Frequently asked questions
Which formats can I convert?
JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and HEIC go in (HEIC only opens in Safari on iPhone and Mac). You get JPG, PNG or WebP out, your choice.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, using your device’s memory. The image never touches our server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Choose up to 20 images of up to 20 MB each. With more than one, Download all puts them in a single .zip file.
Does JPG lose quality?
A little, because JPG compresses the image. The tool saves at 92% quality, where the difference can’t be seen with the naked eye. To lose nothing, choose PNG.
What happens to a transparent background?
JPG has no transparency, so a transparent background turns white. To keep it, choose PNG or WebP.
How do I convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG?
On iPhone, tap Choose images and pick the photos: iOS already hands them over as JPG, and the conversion finishes here. On a computer, HEIC only opens in Safari on a Mac. On Windows, open the photo in the Photos app and save a copy as JPG.
What about animated GIFs?
The conversion uses the first frame of the GIF. The result is a still image.
Does the converted photo keep its location?
No. The new file comes out without the photo’s hidden data (EXIF), such as where it was taken and the phone model. The correct rotation is applied first.
Why is the WebP option turned off?
Because Safari, on iPhone and Mac, can’t save WebP. There, choose JPG or PNG. In Chrome, Edge and Firefox, WebP works.
Does it work on my phone?
It works in your phone’s browser, with no app to install. Images are processed one at a time, so simpler phones don’t freeze.
