In practice: a photo in PNG wastes space, and JPG fixes that. A logo on a transparent background and a screenshot with tiny text look better in PNG.

The background turns white

JPG doesn’t store transparency. When the PNG has a transparent background, the tool paints it white before saving the JPG, so you don’t get a black background, as happens with some converters. If you need the transparent background, keep it as PNG.

Nothing is uploaded

The conversion is done by your browser, using your device’s memory. The files never go through our server and aren’t kept. The JPG comes out without the image’s hidden data (EXIF).

Limits

Up to 20 images at a time, up to 20 MB each. Very large images are scaled down to fit the device’s memory, and the screen tells you when that happens.

To make it even lighter

If the JPG has to stay under a size limit, like the 2 MB many forms ask for, use the image compressor and pick the quality. Making the dimensions smaller helps a lot too: see how to resize the image. And if the image came as WebP, there’s the WebP to JPG page.

Frequently asked questions

Why convert PNG to JPG?

Because a photo in JPG is usually much lighter. PNG keeps every pixel with no loss, which makes photos and large screenshots heavy. Many forms and websites also ask for JPG.

Is the transparent background kept?

No. JPG has no transparency, so a transparent background turns white. To keep transparency, stay with PNG or use WebP in the image converter.

Does it lose quality?

A little, because JPG compresses the image. The tool saves at 92% quality: on photos, the difference doesn’t show. On screenshots with tiny letters, you may see a slight blur around the text.

How much smaller does the file get?

It depends on the image. A photo saved as PNG often drops to a fraction of its size. A screenshot with flat colors shrinks less. The JPG size shows up before you download.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Up to 20 at a time, up to 20 MB each. Download all gives you a .zip with every JPG.

Are the images uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, and the files never leave your device. Nothing is kept.

How do I do the opposite, JPG to PNG?

In the image converter, choose PNG as the format. The file gets bigger, but nothing more is lost from there on.

Does it work on my phone?

It works in the browser, with no app to install. On iPhone, the downloaded JPG goes to the Files app, in the Downloads folder. Open it there, tap Share and Save Image to move it to Photos.
