How to save Pinterest videos on iPhone and move them to Photos
Updated on October 18, 2026
On iPhone, a video downloaded in Safari doesn’t go straight to the Photos app. It goes to the Files app, in the Downloads folder, and from there you move it to Photos with the Share menu. That’s true for any file you download in Safari, not just from this site. The same steps work for Pinterest images and GIFs.
A quick note on words: on Pinterest, the Save button adds the Pin to one of your boards, but it doesn’t put any file on your iPhone. This guide is about having the video on your device.
Before you start
- Use Safari. It has downloaded files since iOS 13.
- Open the site in Safari itself, not inside another app. In-app browsers often block downloads.
- Download your own videos, or videos for personal use, like a recipe or a tutorial to watch offline.
Step by step in Safari
- In the Pinterest app, open the video Pin, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open Safari and go to pegapic.com.br.
- Tap Paste. Your iPhone may show a Paste bubble to confirm. Tap it.
- Wait for the Your files list. The video’s resolution and format show under the button.
- Tap Download video. Safari asks if you want to download the file. Tap Download.
- Wait for it to finish. Safari usually shows progress in an arrow icon near the address bar. If nothing appears, open the Files app after a few seconds.
The link the Pinterest app copies starts with pin.it. It works as it is, with no need to open it first.
From Files to Photos
- Open the Files app.
- Tap Recents. The video is at the top. If it isn’t, go to Browse > iCloud Drive > Downloads, or On My iPhone > Downloads.
- Tap the video to open it.
- Tap Share, the square with the arrow pointing up.
- Choose Save Video.
The video now shows up in Photos. The copy in Files is still there. To avoid using space twice, delete it once it’s saved.
Images, GIFs and audio
- Images: the button is called Download image. In Files, the steps are the same as for a video, but the option is Save Image. More on the Pinterest image downloader page.
- GIFs: the button is Download GIF. In Photos, GIFs also appear in the Animated album, under Media Types. See the Pinterest GIF downloader.
- MP3 audio: Photos doesn’t store audio. The file stays in Files and plays from there.
Change where downloads go
With iCloud Drive on, Safari saves to iCloud Drive > Downloads. To keep files on the device only, go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Downloads and choose On My iPhone. Before iOS 18, the path is Settings > Safari > Downloads.
If you use Chrome on iPhone
Chrome downloads too, but keeps files somewhere else: Files app > On My iPhone > Chrome. From there, the steps are the same: Share > Save Video.
Common problems
- I tapped Download video and nothing happened. You’re probably in an app’s built-in browser, which often blocks downloads. Tap the three dots and choose to open in your browser. Or copy the site address and paste it in Safari.
- The screen says the link doesn’t point to a Pin. You copied a board or a profile. Open the Pin and copy its link. The guide on how to copy a Pin link shows where it is.
- “The links have expired.” Links last about 15 minutes. Tap Get new links.
- There’s no Save Video option. The file is still downloading or only in iCloud, with a cloud icon. Tap it to download it to the device and try again.
- I saved it but can’t find it in Photos. The video may have been added with its original date, not today’s. Look under Media Types > Videos. On iOS 17 or earlier, that’s in the Albums tab.
- The download stops halfway. It’s almost always the connection. Try on Wi-Fi and get new links if needed.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn’t the video go straight to Photos?
Because Safari keeps every download in the Files app. That’s how the iPhone works, not a choice the site makes.
Do I need to install an app?
No. If you want a shortcut, in Safari tap Share > Add to Home Screen. The site gets an icon on your screen, like an app.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes, with the same steps in Safari on iPad.
Does the site keep the video I download?
No. The file goes straight to your device, with no copy on our server.
Can I repost the downloaded video?
Only if you have the right to use it, like your own video or one you have the creator’s permission for. The person who saved a Pin isn’t always the one who made the video. Rights holders can ask for a block on the removal page. We reply within 2 business days.
For more about the video itself, like quality and what shows in the list, see the Pinterest video downloader.
